Biography

Time for a festive look back and a bunch of surprises for 2025 because just like in the summer of '24, Sylver will color the festivals of 2025, with a golden 'touch' around it: We are celebrating 25 YEARS SYLVER! In the universe of Belgian dance, Sylver covers a unique place.

SYLVER comes with a spectacular and energetic LIVE performance bursting with atmosphere and ambiance. In it they will bring all their biggest hits as well as the new singles that are ready for the new year. A spectacular show where the biggest Sylver hits of the past and present will pass in review.

DJ Wout (Van Dessel) and Silvy De Bie met for the first time in 1999 in Belgium’s leading trance-club Illusion, where DJ Wout was the resident DJ and Silvy was a trance-loving regular guest.

They shared their passion for dance-music and DJ Wout asked Silvy to sing the lead-vocals on a song he had written, a project called “Turn The Tide”. Silvy approved, and together they contacted producer Regi Penxten, to record the vocals and finalize the song. And so the base-team of SYLVER was born.

Turn The Tide was released as a single in 2000 and claimed the n°1 position in the Belgian charts for 3 weeks. Totally overwhelmed by the succes, they locked themselves up in the studio and wrote a bunch of extra hit-singles like Skin, Forever In Love, Forgiven and In Your Eyes. This resulted in their debut-album “Chances”, which had a successful world-wide release and launched them on a 4-year world-tour from the USA to Russia, from the Baltic States to South-Africa, from Malaysia to Canada.

Turn The Tide and the other singles became worldwide dance-anthems, resulting in several awards and golden records.

SYLVER released 4 more albums between 2000 and 2010:

  • Little Things (2003)
  • Nighttime Calls (2004)
  • Crossroads (2006)
  • Sacrifice (2009)

with chart-topping singles like Livin’ My Life, Why Worry, Love Is An Angel, Take Me Back, Hate You Now, Foreign Affair, and many more..

In 2006 they scored another European hit with a cover-version of ABBA’s “Lay All Your Love On Me”, as a tribute to the release of the musical Mamma Mia!

In 2008, they recorded and released “One World, One Dream” for the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, following a 3-week tour through China and Hong-Kong.

In 2009, John Miles Jr. joined the band as the lead guitar-player. The same year, SYLVER recorded and released a duet with his dad John Miles Sr., his all-time classic “Music”.

In 2010, SYLVER celebrated their 10th anniversary with 2 stadium-shows in Belgium, a worldwide tour and the release of the album “DECADE - The Very Best Of Sylver”.

In 2013, Silvy and Wout separated their musical ways to develop their solo-projects, and SYLVER went into hibernation.

In 2016, the hunger for the stage got the upper hand so Silvy and Wout got back together again. They released the singles “Turn Your Love Around” and “I Won’t Wait”.

In 2020, SYLVER developed the “SYLVER LINING TOUR”, to celebrate their 20th anniversary. A full-live-show with updated versions of their biggest hits, brought with a live-band and impressive light & sound-show. Post-COVID, the show becomes a succes and SYLVER releases the single “Finally Here” in the summer of 2022.

With more songs ready to be released, SYLVER has achieved GOLD-status in the European dance-scene.
